Αρχαίο Θέατρο Δίου ....

Οι γυμνικοί και θεατρικοί αγώνες στο Δίον, την ιερή πόλη των Μακεδόνων, διαρκούσαν εννέα ημέρες και τελούνταν χάριν των Πιερίδων Μουσών. Σε αυτούς τους αγώνες ο Αρχέλαος κάλεσε τον Ευριπίδη, ο οποίος πέρασε τα τελευταία χρόνια της ζωής του στην Μακεδονία, όπου έγραψε το δράμα «Αρχέλαος», καθώς και τις «Βάκχες». Είναι σχεδόν βέβαιο ότι αυτές οι δυο #παραστάσεις ανέβηκαν στο θέατρο του Δίου. 

Το θέατρο του Δίου είναι πολύ κατεστραμμένο εξαιτίας της λιθολόγησής του, ήδη από την αρχαιότητα, καθώς στη ρωμαϊκή περίοδο εγκαταλείφθηκε μετά από την ανέγερση νέου θεάτρου δίπλα στο ιερό του Δία. 

Επειδή λοιπόν δεν δέχτηκε ρωμαϊκή ανακαίνιση, η οποία θα κάλυπτε ή θα εξαφάνιζε στοιχεία της ελληνιστικής φάσης, ήρθαν στο φως πολύτιμες πληροφορίες για το μνημείο. #διάζωμα #συνέργειες #πολιτισμός #κοινό_αγαθό

The athletic and theatrical games at Dion, were major events for the Macedonian Kingdom. Archelaus added #lustre to this festival, which lasted nine days in honour of the Nine Pierian Muses. He invited Euripides, who spent his final years in Macedonia, where he wrote the drama Archelaus and the Bacchae. These two plays were almost certainly performed at the theatre of Dion, in the sacred city of the Macedonians. The hellenistic theater is very damaged due to the extensive stone looting, since ancient times, as in the Roman period it was abandoned after the construction of a new theater next to the sanctuary of Zeus.
